He's gone.

Former New York Mets reliever Edwin Uceta was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

The Cubs, who had room on their 40-man roster, optioned Uceta to Triple-A Iowa upon acquiring him.

Uceta has missed a majority of the 2023 season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Uceta pitched in just one game for the Mets this season, tossing three shutout innings against the San Francisco Giants back in April.

Pitching for three different minor league affiliates in the Mets' farm system this season, the righty posted a 1.17 ERA across 7.2 innings.

For his big-league career, Uceta has pitched for the Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks, posting a 5.80 ERA in 40.1 innings.

Uceta, who is still just 25-years-old, is in his final minor league option season. This means that next year he will have to pass through waivers if he is sent down.

The Mets designated Uceta for assignment earlier in the week.
