The Chicago Cubs have been looking for a left-handed reliever that can make an impact in their bullpen. Unfortunately, Brandon Hughes has been injured for most of the season, Brad Wieck is working back from major health issues, and the other left-handed arms weren't ready for a large part of the season. However, that all appears to be changing on Wednesday.

According to Tommy Birch of the Des Moines Register, the Cubs are promoting towering left-hander Luke Little from Triple-A Iowa. Little was a fourth-round pick in the shortened 2020 draft and has quickly worked his way through the Cubs' farm system.

Little has pitched at three different levels in 2023. After starting the season with the High-A South Bend Cubs, Little has pitched at both Double-A and Triple-A on his way to the majors. Across the three levels, Little made 36 appearances, including four starts. He has pitched 63.2 innings with 105 strikeouts, 42 walks, and a 2.12 ERA.

Little's stuff is good, as indicated by the inflated strikeout numbers. In addition, the big 6-foot-8 lefty towers over opponents out on the mound. Little will make his MLB debut upon his first appearance. The corresponding roster move for Little's promotion has yet to be announced, but the article will be updated once the information becomes available.

The Cubs are going for the series sweep against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. After taking the first two games behind an incredible performance from Justin Steele and an offensive outburst, the Cubs will look to make it three straight in the series and four straight wins in total. First pitch is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. CDT.

UPDATE: To make room for Little on the 28-man roster, RHP Shane Greene was designated for assignment, per Sahadev Sharma
