Cubs RP Ryan Tepera suspended three games for throwing behind Brandon Woodruff

Chicago Cubs reliever Ryan Tepera has been suspended three games for throwing at Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff on Tuesday, Major League Baseball announced yesterday.

Tepera is appealing the suspension, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.

It was determined Tepera had intent when he threw behind and at the feet of Woodruff during the fifth inning of Tuesday's contest.

Tempers have been flaring this season between the Cubs and Brewers. Cubs catcher Wilson Contreras has been hit by a pitch three times this month by the Brewers, including once in the head. He was hit again on Tuesday, which led to Tepera throwing at Woodruff.

Tepera has appeared in five games this season, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.500 WHIP and five strikeouts. This is his second season with the Cubs.
