After the recent signings of relievers Hector Neris and Richard Lovelady, the Chicago Cubs are still on the hunt for more bullpen help. Most recently, they were reported to have been in attendance for Ken Giles' open workout to teams in Phoenix, Arizona.

The veteran held a session at Terra Sports for all interested clubs to watch him throw. His fastball hovered between 93 to 95 MPH, showing that the velocity is still alive in Giles' arm. But it remains to be seen if he can remain healthy following multiple injuries and a Tommy John surgery in his history.

Since last pitching in 2022 for the Seattle Mariners, Giles has bounced around the league on minor-league deals with the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.

As Giles looks to recapture some of his early-career magic, the Cubs certainly seem like a sensible fit for a minor-league contract. Jed Hoyer and Co. are always on the hunt for hidden gems on the free-agent market.

This also isn't the first time that the Cubs have been interested in the right-hander's services. Back in 2019, the Cubs reportedly inquired about trading for Giles when he was with the Toronto Blue Jays.

It remains to be seen if any clubs have come forward with an offer to Giles, but the Cubs being in attendance for his workout shouldn't come as a surprise.
