Ryan Borucki joins the Chicago Cubs bullpen as a left-handed option.

The Chicago Cubs have selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Ryan Borucki. Caleb Kilian has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa following his rough start on Saturday.

As Borucki joins the Cubs, he will provide a left-handed bullpen option for David Ross.

Borucki spent the last five seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays before being traded to the Seattle Mariners last June. He became a free agent following the conclusion of the 2022 season. The Cubs then invited Borucki to Spring Training in a non-roster capacity. He eventually signed a minor-league deal and has spent the last month in Iowa.

The left-hander owns a career 4.45 ERA across 170 innings in five MLB seasons. To begin the 2023 season, Boruki posted a 12.00 ERA with 11 strikeouts and six walks in nine innings with Iowa.
