Curt Schilling doesn't want baseball writers to determine his Hall-of-Fame fate. Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Curt Schilling posted a letter on Facebook on Tuesday after he failed to meet the threshold for election to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The results of the Hall of Fame voting for 2021 were released on Tuesday. Not one player met the 75% minimum required for election, marking the ninth time no player was elected.

Schilling received the most votes at 71% and is 16 votes away from making the Hall of Fame. But the former pitcher is sick of voters using his political views as a reason not to vote for him, and he wrote a lengthy letter that he published on Tuesday sharing his complaints. Schilling requested removal from the ballot next year and wants to be judged only by the veteran’s committee.

You can read Schilling's letter in its entirety here.

That was a lot for Schilling to get off his chest.

Schilling actually cannot remove himself from the final vote, but maybe the Baseball Writers Association will comply with the request.

Who knows how this will play out? Maybe the letter inspires some voters to reconsider themselves. For others, maybe it will inspire them to dig into the sand even more and not allow him in.
