If you enjoyed the recent Diamondbacks magical postseason run, well, you might have to wait a while to experience it again.

At least according to MLB’s next 10 World Series matchup projections.

Surprisingly, they do not have the Dodgers winning in 2024; instead, it is the Braves over the Orioles.

The Dodgers are then projected to have their turn in 2025, with Shohei Ohtani leading LA to a championship over the Blue Jays.

As for the Diamondbacks, despite what they have been able to accomplish over the past five months, having gone from a rebuild to one of the best teams in the National League, they are predicted to lose to the Seattle Mariners in 2028.

This would mark the Mariners first World Series championship in franchise history. It would also mark the 2nd World Series loss by the Diamondbacks in a six-year span.

Here is what Will Leitch had to say about this prediction:

“You didn’t think I was going to have the Mariners in their first World Series and not have them win it, right? However unsettled the Mariners might seem right now, in 2028, well, they’ll have Julio Rodríguez at the center of everything they’re doing, at 27 years old, the best possible version of Julio Rodríguez. How can that team not be good? While we’re at it: How do you feel about a just-four-months-older Corbin Carroll taking his team to its second World Series in six years?”

Considering what the D-backs have managed to accomplish recently, and MLB’s love for an underdog, it does come as a bit of a shock that they do not have Arizona winning it all in the next decade.

Even the Pirates and the Rockies are projected to win one. Which is saying something.
