Dave Roberts sticking with Kenley Jansen as closer despite third straight blown save

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is sticking with Kenley Jansen as his closer despite blowing his third consecutive save Thursday against the San Francisco Giants.

"I don't think all the blame should be on Kenley. The game should have been over a couple times in that inning," Roberts said after the Dodgers lost to the Giants 5-3, according to The Associated Press.

Jansen entered Thursday's game in the ninth inning with the Dodgers leading 3-1. It appeared L.A. was going to win the game after Jansen struck out two of the first three hitters he faced, but the Giants rallied for the win on two close calls.

Giants baserunner Jason Vosler was initially ruled out at second base, but the call was overturned following a replay review. The call allowed Wilmer Flores to score, which cut the lead to one.

Then, with the bases loaded, Giants hitter Darin Ruf walked on a check swing in a full count to tie the game. Replay later revealed Ruf went around on the swing. Roberts argued the call and was ejected.

After Roberts' ejection, Jansen exited to boos from the crowd after LaMonte Wade Jr. singled and drove home two runs, the difference in the game.

Jansen has allowed nine hits, eight earned runs, and walked four over his last three appearances. The 33-year-old is 1-4 on the season with a 3.05 ERA and 21 saves in 39 appearances.
