Amidst a daunting nine-game losing streak, the Arizona Diamondbacks have made a roster move to shake things up. They’ve opted to bring up infielder Buddy Kennedy from Triple-A Reno, a decision that also involves sending Emmanuel Rivera down to Reno.

Emmanuel Rivera, who had been a consistent presence in the Diamondbacks’ lineup throughout the season, has found himself dealing with a challenging August.

The 27-year-old’s performance at the plate since July 31st has been uncharacteristically lackluster, with an 0-19 slump that has significantly dipped his season batting average to .267.

On the flip side, Buddy Kennedy, who has not seen time with the Diamondbacks this season, has been tearing it up in Triple-A.

Across 87 games, Kennedy has exhibited a remarkable .318 batting average and an impressive .927 OPS, demonstrating his prowess as a promising prospect.

This will be Kennedy’s second stint with the Diamondbacks in his career, as he did see some time with them in 2022. Through 94 plate appearances, Kennedy recorded a .217 batting average.

First pitch for the Diamondbacks game against the San Diego Padres is scheduled for 5:10 PM at Chase Field.
