Diamondbacks reliever Drey Jameson has decided against Tommy John surgery and will instead focus on a conservative rehab program.

While this is a risky move, if the rehab goes well, Jameson could be back on the mound for the Diamondbacks in the final stretch of the season.

On the flip side, if the rehab is not successful, the 25-year-old may be forced to miss the entire 2024 season, as Tommy John surgery is typically a 12- to 15-month setback.

Before heading to the IL in early July, Jameson was one of the more reliable arms in the Diamondbacks bullpen. Through 40 innings, Drey posted a 3.32 ERA and struck out 37 batters.

Arizona is already feeling the impact of Jameson’s injury. As a team, the Diamondbacks have a 6.39 ERA since July 6th. This has led to a 5-11 record in this timeframe.
