The Arizona Diamondbacks are now 2-9 in their last 11 games after suffering yet another sweep as they continued to struggle offensively in a 5-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

In a designated bullpen game for Arizona, the Reds struck early with a leadoff home run by rookie sensation Elly De La Cruz. This was then quickly followed by a two-run homer from Nick Senzel, which boosted the Reds lead to three.

Jose Ruiz, in just his second career start, was forced out of the game with one out remaining in the second inning. Ruiz was accountable for three earned runs on five hits.

While the Diamondbacks tied the game with a pair of home runs in the fifth inning, these marked the end of their offense for the afternoon.

Following a monumental 446-foot blast over the batter’s eye in centerfield off the bat of Corbin Carroll, the Diamondbacks went 2/13 at the plate in the final four innings.

Meanwhile, the Reds continued to pile on, first taking back the lead in the sixth, then blowing the game wide open in the 8th inning.

With reliever Miguel Castro on the mound, Cincinnati put up a three-spot with four singles. In total, the Reds put up 13 hits against the Diamondbacks bullpen, which has struggled all season.

In the past 16 games, the D-backs hold a 4-12 record as nothing seems to be going right at the moment.
