After a heart-wrenching Game 1 loss, the Arizona Diamondbacks roared back with an emphatic 9-1 victory over the Texas Rangers.

On the offensive side, Tommy Pham was one hit away from history as he went 4-4 at the plate before being pinch hit for in the 9th inning.

Besides Pham, the Diamondbacks had four other players record at least two hits, including, Ketel Marte, Corbin Carroll, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Alek Thomas.

The D-backs outshone the Rangers with a resounding 16-4 hit advantage.

What set this game apart from the opening match was their ability to maintain and extend their two-run lead.

In Game 1, the Diamondbacks remained scoreless after the sixth inning, which allowed the Rangers to comeback in dramatic fashion.

However, in Game 2, they clung to their lead, relentlessly building upon it by scoring seven runs in the final three innings.

Also playing a large role in Arizona’s ability to tie the series up at one, was Merrill Kelly on the mound.

He struck out nine batters over seven outstanding innings.

The only run that the Rangers scored off Kelly came off a solo home run in the 5th inning.

Now, as the Diamondbacks head back home, they carry the full weight of momentum to their advantage.
