The Diamondbacks’ offense went flat with runners in scoring position in their Tuesday night matchup against the Miami Marlins. As a result, they felt short with a final score of 6-2.

Brandon Pfaadt, in his second career start, threw five innings, allowing six earned runs on seven hits. Pfaadt has not made it past the fifth inning in either of his starts, nor has he exited with a lead.

Jorge Soler took advantage of Pfaadt’s lack of experience, welcoming the rookie into the major leagues with a couple of bombs, one of which was launched 468 feet. Soler ended the night driving in five of the six Marlins’ runs.

While Arizona did record 11 hits, compared to only 9 from the Marlins, the Diamondbacks failed to get runners across the plate. It was a long night of two-out hits along with a handful of double-plays to cut down any rallies.

Evan Longoria went 3/4, including a home run and two doubles. Nick Ahmed also had a multi-hit night.

The Diamondbacks will be back in action with hopes of taking the series against the Marlins tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:40 PM, and Merril Kelly will be on the mound.
