Dodgers acquire reliever Chris Martin from Cubs for utility man Zach McKinstry

The Los Angeles Dodgers added a veteran arm to their bullpen on Saturday, acquiring reliever Chris Martin from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for utility man Zach McKinstry.

In 34 appearances for the Cubs this season, the 36-year-old compiled a 1-0 record with a 4.31 ERA. He posted 40 strikeouts to just four walks over 31.1 innings of work.

A seven-year veteran, Martin joined the Cubs this offseason, signing as a free agent after spending the previous three seasons with the Atlanta Braves.

Martin has gone 6-15 with a 4.10 ERA in 243 career MLB games for the Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Braves and Cubs.

McKinstry played 10 games for the Dodgers this season, posting four hits, a home run and two RBI over 14 plate appearances.

The 27-year-old batted .335/.417/.487 with four home runs and 25 RBI in 48 games for the Dodgers Triple-A affiliate Oklahoma City.

Selected by the Dodgers in the 33rd round of the 2016 draft, McKinstry played 74 games for LA from 2020 to 2022, slashing .210/.266/.403 with eight home runs and 31 RBI.
