Dodgers activate third baseman Justin Turner from injured list

The Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed on Tuesday that the club has activated third baseman Justin Turner from the injured list.

Right-handed relief pitcher Josh Sborz was optioned to the team's alternate training site in a corresponding roster move.

Turner, 35, last played on Aug. 28 before a strained hamstring sent him to the injured list through the opening half of September. The one-time All-Star is expected to start at designated hitter for Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres, per Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

Across 32 games this summer, Turner is batting .282 with two home runs, 20 RBI, seven doubles and 22 strikeouts.

The Dodgers began Tuesday 1.5 games ahead of the Padres in the National League West standings with a 33-15 record.
