Dodgers activate two-time All-Star Max Muncy from IL

Max Muncy struggled to the tune of just three home runs, 14 RBIs and a .150/.327/.263 slash line prior to landing on the injured list at the end of May due to left elbow inflammation. The Los Angeles Dodgers will be getting back one of their (many) mashers from injury on Thursday though and Muncy has shown in recent years that he's capable of adding yet another threat to an already uber-dangerous lineup.

The versatile infielder posted back-to-back 35-home run seasons in 2018 and 2019 -- leading the Dodgers in dingers in the former -- and led the club in home runs (career-high 36) and RBIs (94) in 2021. Muncy placed 15th in the NL MVP voting in both 2018 and 2019, while finishing 10th last year.

The 31-year-old earned All-Star nods in 2019 and 2021 and while his .234 career batting average isn't pretty, Muncy's shown elite power during his time in Los Angeles, collecting 121 home runs in 521 career regular season games with the team.

The Dodgers (36-20) are currently leading the NL West over the second-place San Diego Padres by 1 1/2 games. They'll take on the Chicago White Sox on the road at 2:10 ET on Thursday with Muncy back in the lineup playing second base and batting cleanup.
