At the GM Meetings , Dodgers General Manager Brandon Gomes provided a major update on injured pitcher Dustin May. He explained that the team isn’t going to push him to return from his latest injury until he is ready to go.

This isn’t the news that LA fans may have been hoping for, but it’s important that the team isn’t pushing him to return. They want to be as cautious as they can be with May due to his injury history, and it seems that they remain high on his upside.

The team had planned on May being a big part of their starting rotation this past season, but injuries once again took control. His injury history complicates things, and it’s been a tough career so far for the young pitcher.

May might not be ready to pitch next season, and if that is the case, it will further push his career back. His immediate future remains in doubt after this latest injury, but there is still hope for him down the line.

He has electric stuff on the mound when healthy, and the Dodgers may view him as a potential option for the future. Before he was hurt last season, May looked good in his nine starts. He posted an ERA of 2.63 and a WHIP of 0.94.

The hope is that he can return to the mound at some point next season, and if he does, hopefully, he can remain healthy. There had been talk about May changing the way he pitches due to his hard-throwing method, but to this date, he hasn’t done so.

Having multiple surgeries this early in his career could cause issues for him going forward, so the team will likely lower expectations going forward. Hopefully, we see him back on the mound sooner rather than later, but that remains to be seen.
