Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen will be traveling with the team to South Korea for the Seoul Series, despite suffering a bruised lung this past weekend, manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday.

Treinen's lung was bruised when he was struck by a comebacker off his chest on Saturday during the Dodgers' Cactus League game against the Texas Rangers. X-Rays revealed that Treinen did not fracture any ribs.

Roberts said the team "dodged a bullet" by avoiding a severe injury. While speaking to Kirsten Watson on Wednesday after the Dodgers' Cactus League game against the Seattle Mariners, Roberts revealed more on Treinen's status.

“Today was a big day for Blake. He threw 15 in the 'pen. There was a little bit of residual soreness but overall he said he felt great. I expect him to be on that plane tomorrow heading to Korea."

This is positive news for Treinen and the Dodgers, as Treinen appears to be ready for the team's Opening Day games against the San Diego Padres on March 20 and March 21.

Through Spring Training so far, Treinen has seen limited action. He's pitched 3.2 innings, and allowed just two hits and no runs or walks. He's struck out two hitters as well.

In 2021, his last full season, Treinen had a 1.99 ERA over 72 games, with 85 strikeouts in 72.1 innings. The former All-Star went 7 for 11 in save opportunities.

Treinen has missed most of the last two seasons due to a shoulder injury and the subsequent surgery and recovery.
