The Los Angeles Dodgers have already suffered a handful of pitcher injuries this spring, including the latest to their top reliever, Blake Treinen.
Treinen suffered an apparent rib injury during his latest outing on Saturday against the Texas Rangers, and it looked to be a severe injury. Luckily, that's not the case, as Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters, including The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya, that Treinen is dealing with a bruised lung.
The 35-year-old is cleared of any fractures to his rib after undergoing x-rays.
Roberts also added that Treinen's lung isn't as severe as it sounds. In addition to that great news, the Dodgers are preparing for the veteran reliever to play catch on Monday and throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.
If all goes well in his recovery process, he should be available for the Dodgers' season-opening series against the San Diego Padres in South Korea next week. The season opens in ten days, and it will be pivotal for the Boys in Blue to have all hands on deck.
Hopefully, we can see Treinen on the mound once the real games commence.
