When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Michael Conforto during the offseason, the hope was for him to be a decent player for the team. Not only has Conforto been around the league for quite a bit now, but he's shown some impressive signs throughout his career, earning an All-Star nod during his time with the New York Mets in 2017.
His loan All-Star appearance was the best Conforto had ever played, but he's also shown other flashes, posting a 118 OPS+ during his 10-year career.
Outside of some injury issues, he's been an outstanding player, and unfortunately, that can't be said during his short time with the Dodgers.
Conforto is currently hitting .135 with a brutal 47 OPS+, a very concerning sign for Los Angeles.
He finally spoke about what he's going through at the plate, and said that despite dealing with slumps, it isn't something he necessarily wants to ever deal with.
“To be good at dealing with a slump,” he said, per the LA Times, “is not something that you necessarily want.”
Conforto has every right to feel how he feels, as it must be frustrating for the left-handed hitting outfielder.
Playing in Los Angeles isn't easy, but Conforto has also played in other big markets before, in New York and with the San Francisco Giants for the past two seasons.
The Dodgers are in somewhat of a different place due to all of their media coverage, but it isn’t like he's facing a ton of pressure with all of the hitters around him in this Dodgers lineup.
Hopefully, sometime soon, he'll figure things out.
