Dodgers' Mookie Betts out vs. Mariners, but X-rays on arm negative

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts was left out of the lineup for Tuesday's showdown with the Seattle Mariners after he was hit on the right forearm by a pitch in the top of the ninth inning of Monday's 4-3 Seattle victory. 

According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), though, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters that X-rays on Betts' arm were negative and that the 28-year-old four-time All-Star was receiving treatment. Roberts seemed optimistic Betts will be able to return to the lineup for the start of the series versus the rival San Diego Padres on Thursday evening and suggested he could use the one-time Most Valuable Player to pinch run on Tuesday if needed. 

Los Angeles is off Wednesday. 

"I was hoping that it would be something soft tissue, as opposed to you know the wrist or the elbow or something like that," Roberts explained. "I guess best case scenario. There was an exhale once he wanted to stay in there. So that's part of it, the soreness, but I think that we dodged a bullet there." 

Betts is hitting .292 with two home runs and two RBIs across his first 12 games this season.
