The Los Angeles Dodgers Opening Day roster for the Seoul Series that begins Wednesday has an even split pitchers and position players, but an 11-man bullpen to back starters Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Glasnow and Yamamoto likely won’t pitch more than five innings in their respective starts as the Dodgers look to avoid too quick of a ramp-up coming off a shortened Spring Training.

Although the Dodgers bullpen features a bevy of options, Blake Treinen somewhat surprisingly is not among them. Neither is Brusdar Graterol, but his omission was expected.

Graterol (right shoulder inflammation), Treinen (bruised lung), Walker Buehler (right elbow surgery) and Emmet Sheehan (right forearm inflammatio) each were placed on the 15-day injured list to begin the season.

Tony Gonsolin, Clayton Kershaw and Dustin May all remain on the 60-day IL from previous roster moves. Gonsolin and May were both placed on the 60-day injured list in February, and Kershaw in early March.

Dodgers Opening Day roster: injured players

Walker Buehler

Buehler is coming off a second career Tommy John surgery and already had been earmarked for a delayed start to his 2024 season because of an innings limit.

The right-hander is facing batters and navigating a deliberate progression as the Dodgers hope to have Buehler healthy for a potential postseason run.

What the IL stint does eliminate is the possibility of Buehler achieving his hope of pitching in the exhibition Freeway Series.

Brusdar Graterol

Graterol made just one Cactus League appearance before experiencing left hip trouble and right shoulder discomfort. The injuries are believed to be connected, but it’s possible Graterol joins the Dodgers for their Dodger Stadium opener on March 28.

Emmet Sheehan

Sheehan is another Dodgers pitcher who already had been ruled out from being with the team on Opening Day. However, the Dodgers noting Sheehan’s injury as right forearm inflammation is a change from both the overall body soreness manager Dave Roberts first alluded to and the more recent update of right shoulder soreness.

Sheehan did manage to resume a throwing program just before the Dodgers left Camelback Ranch for the Seoul Series.

Blake Treinen

Treinen appeared unlikely to be available for Opening Day when he was hit in the chest by a comebacker. X-rays and a CT scan were both negative, and Roberts said Treinen had sustained a bruised lung that wasn’t considered concerning.

Treinen threw a bullpen session the day before the Dodgers’ charter flight to South Korea and voiced optimism he would be active on Opening Day.
