Dodgers P Clayton Kershaw is 'healthiest he's ever been'

Major League Baseball has delayed the start of its season due to the coronavirus, and Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw is hoping things return to normal soon.

The 32-year-old is heading into his 13th season on the mound, and although he's suffered multiple injuries over his career, he's apparently the healthiest he's ever been.

"He is healthier than he has ever been," Kershaw's wife Ellen told ESPN's Wright Thompson. "So I think that has been frustrating because I think he was so ready to go into the season. But part of me also wonders if taking these months off is just going to be more time for rest on his shoulder ... You know, Clayton has pitched so many innings."

Kershaw began the 2019 season on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation, but has since been relatively healthy. He went 16-5 in 2019 with a 3.03 ERA, 189 strikeouts and a 1.043 WHIP -- his 3.03 ERA in 2019 was the highest its been since he made his Dodgers debut in 2008. He had a 4.26 ERA that year.

It's unfortunate that the MLB season is on pause, especially considering the Dodgers were primed to have a solid 2020 campaign with the likes of Kershaw, Mookie Betts, Cody Bellinger and more.

If the season does resume, it's more likely that teams play games at their spring training facilities, or all organizations will play in Arizona. Whatever the case may be, it sounds like Kershaw will be prepared for when the season resumes.
