Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly breaks window during quarantine bullpen session

"It slipped" isn't just an excuse for we common folk who toss baseballs around in our backyard.

On Wednesday, Ashley Kelly, the wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly, shared an Instagram video of Joe working on some mechanics during a throwing session.

Kelly's last pitch of the video went a bit errant, though, and smashed a window of his house.

To steal a phrase from the cult classic baseball movie "Major League": Juuuuussst a bit outside, Joe.

"Wondering how quarantine is going?" Ashley remarked as she walked toward the broken glass. "Joe is working on a changeup," she added as she showed an inside view of the damaged window.

Whatever Joe was working on as he prepared for the fateful pitch, it's quite comical he missed such a wide net. The throw likely would've been behind a right-handed batter during a competitive game.

We don't want to be too harsh on the righty, though, as he's proven in the past that he possesses a nasty changeup that has fooled hitters.

Kelly's fastball also is no laughing matter. As Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston documented in 2017, Kelly once hit 103.5 MPH on a radar gun while facing New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge. That was no one-off.

We credit Kelly and all other big-league ballplayers for staying as game-ready as possible during the coronavirus pandemic that resulted in MLB postponing the start of its season indefinitely.

Stay safe out there, pitchers, and maybe invest in impact-resistant windows if you plan to work on your repertoire near your homes.
