Dodgers place Cody Bellinger on IL with calf contusion
Los Angeles Dodgers star Cody Bellinger was initially listed as day-to-day with a calf injury, but now he'll be out longer than expected.
Prior to L.A.'s home opener against the Washington Nationals at Dodger Stadium on Friday, the team announced that Bellinger has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf contusion, per MLB Network's Jon Morosi.
The 25-year-old suffered the injury during Monday's 10-3 win over the Oakland Athletics. He was spiked by A's reliever Reymin Guduan while beating out an infield single in the ninth inning.
In four games this season, Bellinger is slashing .211/.286/.368 with two RBIs on four hits.
The Dodgers will also be without Mookie Betts on Friday, who is day-to-day with back stiffness, according to manager Dave Roberts.
