Dodgers place two-time All-Star SP Walker Buehler on IL with right forearm strain

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Walker Buehler lasted just four innings in his Friday night outing against the San Francisco Giants, departing early due to discomfort in his right elbow. On Saturday, the Dodgers placed the righty on the injured list and the early reports on Buehler's injury paint a murky picture.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that with Buehler going down, Los Angeles will likely be active at the summer trade deadline.

The 27-year-old two-time All-Star is 6-3 with a 4.02 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 58 strikeouts in 65 innings pitched over 12 starts in 2022. Buehler started the year 4-1 record and a 1.96 ERA through his first six starts, but is just 2-2 record and 6.67 ERA in his last six appearances.

As Buehler goes on the IL, co-ace Clayton Kershaw returns from injury on Saturday against the Giants. Kershaw has been out since mid-May with a pelvic issue.
