Dodgers receive 'big blow' regarding health of pitcher Dustin May

The past few years have been a rough go for Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dustin May as far as injuries are concerned.

Unfortunately, things are not expected to get any better for the fifth-year pitcher. The Dodgers reported after he left a game on Wednesday after only one inning that May is heading to the injured list with a right flexor pronator strain.

"He underwent an MRI after leaving the game, and will need additional testing to determine the extent of his injury. It’s not clear how long May might be out, though manager Dave Roberts suggested a month as being 'fair as a floor,'" the Dodgers wrote on their website.

This is undoubtedly a blow for May, who missed most of 2021 and 2022 because of Tommy John surgery in May of 2021.

'After that first inning, the velocity wasn't there and I saw him kind of moving his hand and those are the signs that something's not right," Roberts said. “It's a big blow. My first [thought] goes to Dustin and what he's had to go through. … Obviously, he was a big part of this year -- and he still could be. But right now, to have this speed bump with him, I know he's disappointed."

May has a 4-1 record this season with a 2.63 ERA and 0.94 WHIP this season.
