The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the best and deepest teams in all of baseball beyond a shadow of a doubt.

This team is deep in pitching and has a lineup that can hurt you in so many ways.

With names like Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, Cody Bellinger, and Freddie Freeman, it’s hard to imagine anything but success for a team like this.

But you have to look closer.

A troubling trend is starting to develop for this team.

Dodgers insider Blake Harris tweeted a screenshot of an unnerving stat from last night’s broadcast.

For all of their strengths, the defense has been quite lackluster.

Defense Wins Championships

It’s nothing to panic about for the Dodgers, but the defense needs to improve.

Defense is critical to any winning ballclub.

For them to have committed 10 errors in their last nine games is concerning.

That means they’re committing roughly an error per game after having just committed eight through their first 25 games.

When the errors pile up, there’s cause for concern.

This is still a great ballclub with several great defensive players.

It’s not like this team has a “bad” defense.

But recently, it has been that way.

It’s quite unlike the Dodgers too, who are typically one of the most fundamentally sound ballclubs in all of baseball.

Again, it’s not time to panic as the team is still playing relatively good baseball, but the defense needs to clean it up a little if they are to continue winning ballgames.

The Dodgers are still one of the elite franchises in all of baseball, as they own the best record in the National League.

But the defense needs to be better.
