The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night by a final score of 5-4. Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead, something that has become a trend and starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is taking notice.
“Yeah, it’s awesome,” Glasnow said in reference to the Dodgers’ impressive offensive performance to begin the season, via SportsNet LA. “Any time you can go out there with the lead, it’s a good feeling. And I feel like for the most part, it’s been like basically every game, so it’s great, a lot of confidence.”
Glasnow did not have his best outing on Wednesday. The right-hander still managed to record a quality start, however. Glasnow surrendered three runs across six innings of work while striking out seven.
Another new Dodger had a big game. Shohei Ohtani crushed his first regular season home run with the Dodgers on Wednesday, and Glasnow addressed his teammate’s special moment.
“Yeah, it was awesome. It was great to see him get his first one,” Glasnow said. “Yeah, awesome moment. I’m happy for him.”

Los Angeles’ lineup has lived up to expectations thus far. The team has scored at least five runs in each game to open the new campaign.
Ohtani already has 10 hits and four RBI to go along with the home run he hit on Wednesday. Mookie Betts looks like the MVP favorite to begin the season, as the Dodgers shortstop is slashing .485/.595/1.091/1.686 across 33 at-bats. Betts has also hit five home runs through the first nine games of the year.
Teoscar Hernandez has four home runs, Freddie Freeman and Max Muncy are seeing the ball well, and the rest of the lineup has been productive. This ball club is dangerous.
Will there be a slump at some point? Even the best teams struggle to score runs at times throughout the course of a 162-game season. It is difficult to envision this Dodgers lineup struggling at all, but it could happen. With that said, they will surely find a way to bounce back quickly.
For now, LA will continue looking to give their pitchers plenty of run support.
Tyler Glasnow’s start to Dodgers career
Many people around the MLB world have lofty expectations for Glasnow. He has pitched to a 3.18 ERA across 17 innings of work to begin his career in Los Angeles.
Glasnow, who was traded to the Dodgers this past offseason, previously pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays. Joining a big market club like the Dodgers obviously presents some new challenges, but Glasnow has impressed up to this point.
Of course, it is a small sample size. Regardless, Glasnow features one of the highest ceilings in the entire sport. As long as he can stay healthy, there is reason to believe that 2024 could be a tremendous season for Tyler Glasnow.
