Dr. Anthony Fauci Topps card ranks first on best-seller list

No one will ever forget Dr. Anthony Fauci's horrendous first pitch attempt.

Fauci, who threw out the first pitch during the Washington Nationals' Opening Day matchup against the New York Yankees, was given his own personalized Topps Trading Card. The card was available for just 24 hours, but it set a record regardless.

According to the Action Network's Darren Rovell, the Fauci card now is the best-selling card in Topps history.

We all know how the pitch went, though Topps made it look like Fauci threw a nearly perfect ball to Nats pitcher Sean Doolittle.

The back of the card features a little snippet of information on Fauci, too, which reads:

Dr. Anthony Fauci, longtime Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and ardent Washington Nationals fan, signaled the official start of the 2020 MLB regular season by throwing out the first pitch before the Nationals took on the Yankees on Thursday evening.

The 79-year-old Brooklyn native, donning a Nationals jersey, hat and facemask, fired a strong effort to the plate before the Nationals took the field.

Dr. Fauci collectibles have been sold quickly in various forms since the COVID-19 pandemic began, from socks to bobbleheads.
