Dr. Fauci says U.S. is not ready for sports to resume

Well, this is not a good sign on the sports front. Dr. Anthony Fauci gave an update on the coronavirus outbreak in the United States on Wednesday, and unfortunately it looks like we'll be waiting much longer for sports to resume.

“I would love to be able to have all sports back,” Dr. Fauci said, according to the New York Times“But as a health official and a physician and a scientist, I have to say, right now, when you look at the country, we’re not ready for that yet.”

Dr. Fauci previously said sports may be able to resume in the summer under certain guidelines, but that's now seeming like it may not be possible.

Many sports leagues around the world are trying to come up with ways to salvage their seasons, but we've already seen the cancellation of the French League this week and more cancellations are probably on its way.

Anything from neutral sites to games being played without fans have been discussed, but it all comes down to player safety.

If player safety cannot be guaranteed, then we won't be seeing sports for a while.
