Elvis Andrus started Friday night's game with a bang. The Chicago White Sox leadoff man jumped on the first pitch he saw and hit a 439-foot blast to center field, marking his 100th career home run.
It was the fourth homer of the season for Andrus, who joined the White Sox in the middle of the 2022 season. Thirteen of his 100 career home runs have come with the South Siders.
The Venezuelan shortstop previously spent 12 years with the Texas Rangers, where he hit 76 of his long balls. After a trade to the Oakland Athletics, he hit 11 dingers over parts of two seasons for the Bay Area club.
While Andrus has shifted over to second base for most of this season with the White Sox, he is assuming shortstop duties while Tim Anderson serves a five-game suspension.
