Things took a turn for the unexpected in last night’s series finale between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cardinals turned on their bats and erupted for 15 runs as they beat San Francisco by a final of 15-6.

But things got interesting when St. Louis put Albert Pujols on the mound in the top of the ninth inning to close things out.

Pujols was knocked around in his pitching debut, allowing four runs on two homers.

Giants third baseman Evan Longoria took his hacks against Pujols in the top of the ninth and picked up a hit against the future Hall-of-Famer.

ESPN tweeted a video of the hit and showed Pujols giving the ball back to the Giants so that Longoria could have a memento of his accomplishment.

Longo And Pujols Share A Moment

It’s notable anytime you do something good against Pujols, whether that be a strikeout, or a hit when he’s making a rare pitching appearance.

Longoria wanted to make sure to remember the moment where he got a hit off of the future Hall-of-Famer.

This is a hilarious moment and one that will be remembered for some time.

Nobody expected Pujols to pitch in that game, especially not Longoria.

You never go into a game thinking about getting a hit off of Pujols.

But Longoria was able to do just that and provide baseball fans with an unforgettable moment.

Who can blame him for wanting to keep that ball?

Pretty much all of Busch Stadium was laughing with Pujols on the mound, but Longoria got to have his moment of fun.

Maybe one day, Longoria will get that baseball signed by Pujols, or even authenticated at some point.
