In what seems to be a heartfelt farewell message, veteran Evan Longoria took to Instagram just one week after the Arizona Diamondbacks narrowly missed out on claiming the World Series title.

Longoria said goodbye to the fans and thanked them for all of the support.

At 37 years old, the Diamondbacks signed Evan Longoria to a one-year deal back in January 2022.

Not knowing what they would get out of the three-time All-Star, Longoria proved to be a valuable veteran leader in the locker room.

Despite not delivering a standout season at the plate, Longoria’s performance in the playoffs proved pivotal for the Diamondbacks.

Longoria’s exceptional plays at third base during the Wild Card round were nothing short of spectacular and likely contributed to saving one or two crucial wins against the Brewers.

However, at 37, Longoria’s future in professional baseball remains uncertain. Whether he decides to retire for good or give it one last go for a 17th season is yet to be determined.

While he will most likely retire without that coveted World Series ring, Longoria will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the most well-rounded players of the 2010s.
