One former member of the New York Mets is looking to work his way back up to the big leagues.

Free agency has been extremely slow and there still are plenty of players out there who are starting to find new opportunities. Former Mets reliever Robert Gsellman is one of the latest players to find a deal.

The Washington Nationals reportedly signed the former Mets and Chicago Cubs hurler to a minor league deal with a possibility of making the big league club, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"Robert Gsellman signs minors deal with Nats," Heyman said. "$900K if in majors"

Gsellman last appeared in a big league game with the Cubs in 2022 when he made eight appearances while logging a 4.70 ERA with a nine-to-three strikeout-to-walk ratio. The righty spent the 2023 season with the Yokohama DeNA BayStars and made 23 appearances and had a 4.63 ERA.

The 30-year-old was selected in the 13th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft and eventually made his big league debut in 2016. Gsellman spent the first six seasons of his big league career with New York.

While pitching for New York, Gsellman compiled a 4.59 ERA in 176 total appearances with a 280-to-123 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

It's unclear what role he will play with the Nationals, but hopefully, he can work his way back up to the big leagues and impress with Washington.
