This former New York Mets manager might be moving up in the ranks with his new team.

ex-Mets skipper Luis Rojas is being considered for the New York Yankees' bench coach job, per The Athletic.

The Yankees have an opening in this area because Carlos Mendoza was hired as the Mets' new manager last week, succeeding Buck Showalter, who held the position for the past two years.

Rojas was the Mets' manager for two seasons from 2020-2021, and in both years the team finished below .500 and missed the postseason. The Mets initially hired Carlos Beltran as their manager prior to the 2020 season, but he was fired after a month due to his role in the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal. As a result, Beltran was replaced by Rojas, who was working in the organization already and was a finalist for the managerial job.

Rojas was fired by the Mets shortly after the conclusion of the 2021 campaign. But he quickly landed a new gig with the Mets' crosstown rivals, being hired as the third base coach of the Yankees, a role he has held for the past two seasons.

In addition to Rojas, the Yankees are also looking at former big-league manager Brad Ausmus and former major league pitcher and current San Francisco Giants pitching coach Andrew Bailey.
