Ex-Mets manager Bobby Valentine: I'm 'thinking about' running for office

Outside of guiding the New York Mets to a World Series appearance as manager of the Amazins, Bobby Valentine is largely remembered for the time he humorously returned to the dugout in disguise after he was ejected from an outing:

Bobby V may soon adopt a different type of uniform: that of a politician.

As SNY's Andy Martino wrote, Valentine spoke about potentially running for office during Tuesday's episode of "Baseball Night in New York: Living Room Edition." Valentine admitted:

"My neighbor actually knocked on my door and requested me to think about that. So I am thinking about it.

"These next two years are going to take some real leadership. To win anything, as I've said often, you need trust and you need teamwork. I think I'm a pretty trustworthy guy and I think I can rally people around the flag so that we can get teamwork."

The former Mets boss didn't say if he'd run for local or national office.

"I'm not running for office," he said of any considerations. "It's just a thought."

As Mike Vaccaro of the New York Post wrote, Valentine remains committed to his role as athletic director at Sacred Heart University. He's also distributed protective masks throughout Connecticut even though the soon-to-be 70-year-old is considered a high-risk individual during the coronavirus pandemic.
