Former Washington Nationals pitcher Erick Fedde has a new baseball home. The former first-round pick has signed a one-year deal with NC Dinos of the KBO in South Korea, according to YonhapNews’ Jeeho Yoo. The deal is worth $1 million, including a $200,000 signing bonus.
The Nationals drafted Fedde in 2014 out of UNLV. He sat out his first year recovering from Tommy John surgery. He made his MLB debut on July 30, 2017. Unfortunately, he never quite lived up to expectations for the Nationals.
In six seasons in the majors, Erick Fedde never had an ERA lower than 4.29. During his career, Fedde pitched in 102 games, starting 88. He compiled a 21-33 record with a 5.41 career ERA. He allowed 9.9 hits per nine innings. Last season, Fedde had a 6-13 record with a 5.81 ERA in 27 starts.
The Nationals did not tender to Fedde, ending his time with the club after eight years in the organization. Going to South Korea, Fedde is looking to reset his mechanics and career trajectory.
