The Boston Red Sox have a slew of alumni who have moved on from the baseball world and transitioned into media roles across the landscape.

The latest former Red Sox player is moving into the same space, though he's best remembered for winning a World Series for another American League club alongside a bunch of personal accolades such as an All-Star appearance, four Gold Gloves and a Silver Slugger.

"Excited to take on this new challenge, MoonBall Media, and our first project, The Diggin’ Deep Podcast," former first baseman Eric Hosmer wrote Wednesday. "The playing days are unfortunately over but I’m committed to giving back to the baseball community that helped shaped my life. Episode 1 live now."

Hosmer hit .244 (11-for-45) with three extra-base hits, four RBIs and a .631 OPS in his brief 14-game stint with the Red Sox after being sent to Boston at the 2022 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline.

The trade was one of the notable transactions made when former Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom attempted a buy-and-sell approach at the deadline -- which didn't do much to help the present or the future.

Hosmer will now join the media ranks as the latest former professional athlete to start a podcast -- and will have a daunting task ahead in a highly saturated market.
