MLB ballparks are returning to pre-pandemic attendance levels, which has brought back one aggravating aspect of having fans pack the stands: misguided miscreants storming the field and interrupting play.

Another such instance of trespassing by a fan occurred Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field during the Chicago Cubs-San Diego Padres tilt. The individual was carrying a sign during a trespassing transgression that was halted with ballpark security tackling him near the infield. The sign’s message read, “Jesus is Lord.”

Wednesday’s incident during the Cubs’ 6-1 victory over the Padres is not the first instance of fans interrupting the game action with irresponsible antics during the 2021 MLB season. Two fans managed to make it onto the field at Citizens Bank Park last month during a game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Miami Marlins.

This kind of unruly fan behavior has also unfortunately marred the start of the 2021 NBA playoffs, as an outbreak of ugly incidents involving fans and players occurred just last week.
