According to a report from MLB.com, former Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers ' utility player Enrique Hernandez is expected to sign within the next three days.

Per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com:

Kiké Hernandez is expected to sign by Sunday or Monday, per source.

Obviously the report doesn't say which teams are involved at this point, but we've heard Hernandez's name with regards to both the Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels this offseason.

Hernandez is coming off a double hernia surgery this offseason and has been banged up each of the last two years but he's certainly a useful player when healthy.

The 32-year-old made his major league debut in 2014 with the Houston Astros and also spent a little time with the Miami Marlins, but he really made his mark with the Dodgers from 2015-20. He helped Los Angeles win the World Series in 2020.

After that, he spent 2.5 years in Boston, helping the Red Sox get to the ALCS in 2021. He was traded back to the Dodgers in 2023.

Lifetime, Hernandez is a .239 hitter who is best known for his spotty power and defensive versatility.

It will be interesting to see what he wants and what his opportunities are. He's already won a World Series, so does he prioritize a place where he can win a second one? Does he want a more prominent role on a less-likely-to-contend club? Does he want to be in a place that will use him as an outfielder, or does he see himself as an infielder?

It looks like we're about to find out those answers.
