A former Los Angeles Dodger catcher has called it a career. Seven-year MLB catcher and one-year Dodger Tony Wolters has retired. He announced his decision via his Instagram page.
Wolters posted a lengthy goodbye on his Instagram. He thanked everyone who helped him during his seven years in the majors and the people close to him.
Wolters started his career with the Colorado Rockies from 2016 to 2020. After five seasons there, he went to the Chicago Cubs in 2021, and then his last MLB season came in 2022 with the Boys in Blue.
He signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers in Aug. 2021 and appeared in 26 games for the Oklahoma City Dodgers. He remained in Oklahoma City in 2022 before being called to the majors in Aug. 2022.
He appeared in two games for the Dodgers, where he struck out in three of his four at-bats. Wolters was designated for assignment three days after being called up and was released a few days later.
He then signed another minor league deal with the Dodgers and finished his 2022 season with them.
He had a career batting average of .235 with seven home runs and 123 runs batted in.
