Former Dodgers third-round draft pick Brandon Dixon has announced his retirement from Major League Baseball.

He took to Instagram on Thursday to make the announcement.

"Officially retired from baseball. I’m so thankful for all the relationships, support, and experiences over the past 10 years. It’s been a fun journey to go from a kid dreaming of playing in the big leagues to getting to play for my hometown team the past couple of years. Thank you to everyone who was part of it."

Dixon was drafted by the Dodgers back in 2013 in the third round of the MLB draft.

He got as high as Double-A in the Dodgers' organization, before being traded in the 2015-16 offseason as part of a three-team deal with the Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox.

Dixon was sent to the Reds along with Jose Peraza and Scott Schebler in a trade that sent Todd Frazier to the White Sox and Trayce Thompson, Micah Johnson and Frankie Montas to the Dodgers

Dixon would then make his MLB debut with the Reds in 2018, but struggled, and ended up joining the Detroit Tigers for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.

In 2022 and 2023, Dixon was back in the National League West with the San Diego Padres. He appeared in 33 games last year in San Diego, slashing .203/.244/.329 with two home runs and nine runs batted in.

In his career, Dixon made 234 appearances, and hit .224 with 22 home runs, 74 RBIs and an OPS of .663.
