Former Dodgers infielder Sheldon Neuse has re-signed with the Hashin Tigers in Japan. Neuse spent last season with the Tigers, and now will gear up for his second year with the team.
He spent the 2021 season with the Dodgers, appearing in 33 games overall. Neuse was mainly used as a depth piece for LA, only getting 66 plate appearances for them.
He hit .169 with three home runs and four runs batted in during that time, so he wasn't the most effective player on the roster. Neuse spent most of the season in Triple-A, and was designated for assignment once the year ended.
The infielder was effective while with Triple-A, hitting .293 with 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 78 games. But it wasn't enough to stay with the organization. He then got claimed off waivers by the Oakland Athletics, and spent some time there for a little.
Originally, he was a second-round draft pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2016 MLB Draft. He attended the University of Oklahoma for college, and was seen as a solid prospect.
He never really lived up to the potential in the big leagues, but has found some success over in Japan. Neuse slashed a 240/.295/.328 batting line with Hanshin last season.
