The New York Yankees have cut former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Billy McKinney as the offseason gets underway. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported the news.

McKinney, along with five other ball players, have been outrighted by the Yankees. They can now be claimed or elect for free agency, which started on Thursday.

The 29-year-old spent one season with the Boys in Blue back in 2021. In that season, he appeared in 37 games and slashed a horrendous .146/.276.,232 with a .507 OPS, a 38 OPS+, and collected 12 hits, one home run, and seven RBIs.

Even with those displeasing stats, he was still out there for crucial at-bats in the NLCS, where the Dodgers came up short against the eventual World Series champions, the Atlanta Braves.

His time in Los Angeles was so bad that it became so unforgettable.

With New York, however, he was able to turn things around a bit. In 48 games, the lefty slashed .227/.320/.406 with six home runs and 14 RBIs.

We wish McKinney the best in his next journey, but one thing is for sure: He won't be in LA next season (at least, we hope).
