Former Dodgers outfielder Trayce Thompson has agreed to a minor-league contract with the New York Mets. MLB Insider Andy Martino of SNY was the one to break the news of the signing.

Thompson has had two stints with the Dodgers in his career. He spent 2016 and 2017 with the team before bouncing around a few other clubs.

He rejoined the Dodgers in 2022 after being traded from the Detroit Tigers. Thompson made a mark on the 2022 team, hitting .268 with 13 home runs and 39 runs batted in over 74 games.

The organization re-signed him for the 2023 season, but he couldn't replicate his production from the previous year. He ended up being traded to the Chicago White Sox in the trade that brought reliever Joe Kelly and starter Lance Lynn to Los Angeles.

In 36 games with L.A. in 2023, he hit .155 with five home runs and 14 runs batted in. During his time with Chicago, he didn't fare much better, hitting .171 with one home run and three runs batted in.

Thompson has shown his potential at times, but he just hasn't been able to stay consistent throughout his career. It's seen him move around the league, now landing with New York.

Thompson is the brother of NBA star guard Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors.
