Former Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen hired as COO of Roc Nation Sports

Former New York Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen has landed himself a new job.

Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports has hired Van Wagenen as COO, the 46-year-old announced Wednesday via Twitter.

"Brodie's knowledge of the business is indisputable and unparalleled,'' Jay-Z said in a statement, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. "Since we first worked with Brodie, we realized the shared commitment to athletes on and off the field. He's always been extended family, and now it's official."

Roc Nation Sports represents several players across Major League Baseball, including Robinson Cano, Yoenis Cespedes, Eddie Rosario and C.C. Sabathia, among others.

Before his time with the Mets, Van Wagenen was a player agent and represented Cespedes when he signed a four-year, $110 million deal with New York in 2016. In November, the Mets fired Van Wagenen after the team failed to rank higher than third place in the NL East with him as general manager.

Since his firing, the Mets have added Francisco Lindor, Carlos Carrasco and James McCann in an effort to boost their talent. The team also has been linked to Trevor Bauer.
