Former MLB pitcher Scott Erickson charged in connection with fatal hit-and-run

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Erickson has been charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless driving in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in California, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. 

Erickson was reportedly racing with another car driven by Rebecca Grossman, who hit and killed two boys in a crosswalk in September. Grossman was reportedly driving at "excessive speeds" when she hit the 11- and eight-year-old boys. 

Grossman was charged with two felony counts of murder and vehicular manslaughter and a felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. She could spend up to 34 years to life in prison if found guilty. 

Erickson is due in court in March.

The 1991 World Series champion pitched for the Baltimore Orioles, Minnesota Twins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Texas Rangers, New York Mets and New York Yankees. In 15 seasons, he went 142-136 with a 4.59 ERA and 1.462 WHIP.
