Former National League MVP Kris Bryant is set to occupy the No. 2 spot in the Colorado Rockies' batting order this year, according to reports.

Also, Bryant will be making the switch to first base, as we covered earlier in this offseason.

More on the Rockies' lineup construction was made public in a piece on MLB.com:

The Rockies’ preferred lineup is a forward march -- left, right, left, right -- through the top six spots. That would be lefty-hitting leadoff man Blackmon, followed by Kris Bryant, Nolan Jones, Rodgers, Ryan McMahon and Elias Díaz.

The Rockies, who finished with the worst record in the National League last season, should be capable of scoring runs if they stay healthy. Of course, they play in the most hitter-friendly ballpark in the sport, but they also have guys with significant resumes and/or significant prospect pedigree. Brendan Rodgers for example, is looking to be healthy after undergoing shoulder surgery that cost him most of 2023. He was once one of the best prospects in baseball.

With regards to Bryant, the hope is that he can stay healthy after back-to-back injury-plagued seasons in Colorado. Since signing in Colorado before the 2022 season, he's played just 32 percent of the team's games. He played in 42 in 2022 and 80 in 2023.

He's also struggled in general since arriving in Colorado, hitting .259 with just 15 homers and 45 RBI in those 122 games.

Prior to arriving in Colorado, Bryant was one of the most productive players in baseball. He won the Rookie of the Year for the Chicago Cubs in 2015 and was a four-time All-Star in Chicago. He helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016 and was the MVP of the National League that year.

Lifetime, he's a .276 hitter with 182 home runs.
