A wild offseason continued on Friday night for former Seattle Mariners top prospect Evan White.

White, the former first-round pick of the M's, was dealt to the Los Angeles Angels in the trade that sent Max Stassi and David Fletcher to the Atlanta Braves.

He had been traded less than a week earlier from the Mariners to the Braves.

While White will get a chance to re-start his career in the Angels organization, the whole saga represents a sad downfall for a player who was supposed to be a major part of the Mariners organization for a long time.

White was a first-round pick of the M's in 2017 and signed a six-year contract before ever even stepping foot on a major league field. He won a Gold Glove for Seattle during the COVID 2020 season and was the team's cleanup hitter on Opening Day 2021.

But then, an unfortunate spate of injuries happened and White hasn't been on a major league diamond since. He had a hip flexor injury in 2021 which caused him to only play 30 games that year.

He underwent surgery for a sports hernia in March of 2022 and was pulled multiple times from rehab assignments. He came into 2023 with optimism and started the year at AAA, only to suffer another setback.

He'll now start the year assuredly at Triple-A for the Angels, who figure to be in a slight rebuilding move after presumably losing Shohei Ohtani in free agency.

White is a career .165 hitter with 10 home runs in 279 at-bats.
